The Weight of Expectations

Teenagers are expected to be carefree, still exploring their identities, and figuring out life. When faced with an unexpected pregnancy, the reality of motherhood forces them into a whirlwind of responsibilities. As an outsider, it’s easy to see the stress of adjusting to this drastic shift.

Teen moms often carry a heavy weight of judgment from society, family, and peers. Many are expected to "grow up" quickly, sacrificing their teenage years. This shift in expectations can lead to feelings of isolation, shame, and anxiety. Some young mothers might feel pressured to prove they are capable, while others struggle with their own feelings of inadequacy.
